God trumps every culture and tradition!

Johannes talks about parables, how they are a figure of speech and how they are designed to be speaking to our hearts. This way, only the ones with open hearts would be able to understand.

He gives us 5 simple steps to follow when we want to study and know more about a parable and it's meaning:

1. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit for revelation

2. Start reading at the beginning of the scene
Finding out who he is talking to will help you figure out why he chose that parable.

3. Read the chapter a few times
Who is present? When is Jesus saying this? Where is he talking? What is Jesus addressing?

4. Try to figure out the MAIN point of the parable
Did Jesus respond to a question? Did Jesus observe something and then adress that?
What in the parable represents something in our world? What is repeated in the parable?

5. Application!
Only when we understand the context or the original reader, can we relate it to our world today.

Johannes walks you through all three parables found in Luke 15. Going from step 1- 4, helping you get a hang of these simple steps. However, he left step number 5 open for you!

So for your reflection this week, you will be doing step number 5 for all three parables found in Luke 15. Read them and reflect on how you can respond.
